Competitive BBQ represents the best of BBQ culture, bringing together passionate enthusiasts who love food at its best, made by pitmasters at the top of their game! Each year, there’s one specific place where you find them. Called the "Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest" in the world by USA Today, the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (WCBCC) again looks to crown the best of the best in competitive BBQ, and TempPro is there!

Over 100,000 spectators are set to watch over 125 teams from 27 states and 7 countries as far away as Norway compete for $190,000 in prize money. Taking place from May 13-16 at Liberty Park as part of the Memphis in May International Festival, this competition is a dream come true for anyone who wants to sample the finest BBQ on Earth. Tickets are available here.

This year’s event features a wide range of activities suitable for the whole family that include a singing contest, a family activity area, and a scavenger hunt on Saturday. This year’s honored country is Ireland who will lead the opening parade ceremony on Wednesday.

If you're in the Memphis area this week, come on out and help cheer on our teams! And while you're here, come say hello! We’ll be at the "ThermoPro" booth giving out free samples on Friday and Saturday.

TempPro has served as a sponsor at this annual event for several years now, and we’re proud to do our part to support BBQ culture! By using our cooking thermometers, we believe that anyone can experience the wonderful cuisine that has been a staple of American society for generations.

Here’s a rundown of the competitive BBQ teams that we’re sponsoring this year at WCBCC.

Ribdiculous Bar-B-Krewe

Founded in 2008 by Shane McBride, Ribdiculous Bar-B-Krewe catapulted to success a year later by winning first place for Hot Wings in the 2009 Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Fourteen years later at the same renowned competition, the team achieved its highest honor by being named Grand Champion and Ribs Champion in 2023, marking the first time in 21 years that a ribs team has won the title.

Kaiden Blake Outdoor Kitchen

Kaiden Blake is a 17-year-old BBQ prodigy from Wellings, OK, who has been turning heads with his inspirational story. Blake started cooking BBQ by watching YouTube videos after being sidelined from sports by rheumatoid arthritis. Kaiden’s talents took him all the way to winning the  2025 Junior Grand Champion at last year’s event in the Chicken Category & Pork Category, becoming a standout competitor on the global competitive BBQ circuit.

Team Waterdog

Team Waterdog cemented their place among the truly great competitive BBQ teams with their definitive win as Reserve Grand Champion in the Shoulder Category at last year’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Led by pitmaster David Grauer, Team Waterdog is a seasoned force on the competitive barbecue circuit ready to take top honors at the world’s most prestigious BBQ championship.

Will-Be-Que

Led by pitmaster Craig Wilkerson, Will-Be-Que has been a dominant force on the competitive barbecue circuit since the team's founding in 2009. The team has won at Memphis in May over a dozen times, most recently as Grand Champion in the Whole Hog Category at last year’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

Russell's Dam Good BBQ

Under the leadership of pitmaster Jon York, Russell’s Dam Good BBQ has established its preeminent reputation on the competitive BBQ circuit with three wins at Memphis in May.  Russell's first made its mark at the WCBCC by winning the Chicken Wing World Title in their first-ever appearance at the competition. Known for its all-natural, gluten-free sauces, Russell's BBQ has most recently distinguished itself by winning last year’s Kingsford Tour of Champions.
